My philosophy and approach toward working with clients is one I acquired during my own therapeutic journey.  I believe each of us has within us the answers to questions that challenge, frustrate, scare and even terrorize us.  I hope to provide a curious, open-hearted, mindful and calm spirit that will help you uncover what you have known all along.  We can’t always see what is before us until we are given direction and guidance, until the fresh perspective and different outlook of someone outside our everyday life can guide us through life’s challenges. Along the way I hope to introduce and invite you to learn new coping skills, accept the past as the past, let go of worry and anxiety over the future and be present to what is happening today, in this moment.

I discovered this poem while on an extended hermitage at Dwelling in the Woods (now The Shire in the Woods ), framed it and have it in my office as a reminder of working together.

You and I

we meet as strangers

each carrying a mystery within us.

I cannot say who you are

I may never know you completely

but I trust that you are a person in your own right

possessed of a beauty and value

that are the Earth’s richest treasures.

So I make this promise to you

I will impose no identities upon you

but will invite you to become yourself

without shame or fear.

I will hold open a space for you in this world

and allow your right to fill it

with an authentic vocation and purpose.

For as long as your search takes,

you have my loyalty.
