Deb Lindau, LMFT

I was born and raised on a farm in Grantsburg, WI and although I no longer live on the farm I continue to live in Grantsburg and am a huge Packer fan. Being raised in a rural area I love being outdoors, camping, swimming and bonfires.

I attended two years of college at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and then transferred to Bethel College in St. Paul where I graduated with a degree in Speech Communication and a minor in Youth Ministry (no I did not find a job in Speech Communication after graduation). I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to work with kids and “do counseling” but at the time I did not understand what that meant or how to go about starting that path.

After I graduated from college I worked in the Twin Cities as a para-professional in an elementary school during the year and would spend my summers working at a Bible camp that I had attended as a child. During the summer of 1996 I met my husband (and his 8-year-old son) at the camp and we knew almost instantly that we would be married. We got married May of 1997 and went back to work at the camp for the summer. We ended up staying at the camp for the next 4 years, my husband as the Food Service Director and myself as the Program Director. They were wonderful years, however after we had a baby in 2000, the camp hours were too much and we left camp and I got to be a stay at home mom for a while and raise my 12-year-old son, daughter born in 2000 and son born in 2002. While the kids were young, I returned to school completing a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice and went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In 2011 I began working for Therapeutic Services Agency in Pine City, MN providing therapy to children, parents, couples and individuals. My work focused on children mainly in the school setting and in their home. By 2013, I was full time seeing children and families in the East Central School and continued that work until the end of the school year of 2019. In February of 2019 I completed my requirements and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

I enjoy working with children ages 5-18 dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, social skills, anger and many other issues children experience. I also enjoy working with the family system helping to build healthy relationships between couples, parents, children and siblings.
